We had 14 little friends attending The Little Yoga House’s summer camp this week!
I teach the food and nutrition segment of camp and this time we learned:
- how to make vegan pancakes
- what ingredients go in a pancake
- why a whole wheat & oat pancake and topped with fresh fruit provided us with great fuel
- what our perfect pancake looks like
We began the lesson by reading Eric Carl’s Pancakes Pancakes! and then compared our ingredients to the ingredients in the book.
Both equally delicious! Our pancakes provided us with fiber, iron, calcium, vitamins and omegas to help us grow strong. We got out our imaginary bowls out and one by one added each ingredient while stirring very carefully; just like Jack did in the book!
Next we talked about our favorite pancake shape and topping and then designed our perfect pancake.
Time to get to work!
The kids did a great job and we finished part 1 of our class book!
